This is a short report on today since it really was a housekeeping day. We woke to sunshine and beautiful weather and almost wished we were heading out again on a cruise – but alas we need to deal with laundry and other types of housekeeping chores. You can only put them off for so long.
I am not sure but suspect that the hot humid weather is much harder on clothes than you would think. We have virtually nothing clean left in the camper other than long sleeved shirts and fleeces. I suspect that with the humidity we feel hot and sweaty from the time we get up until bedtime. If it was not for the fan we purchased and put in the fan I am sure we would have trouble sleeping at night.
With the heat and humidity everything you do results in sweating. Even as we sorted out the clothes to wash we both were ‘glowing’ with the sweat. (No this is not romantic at all!) Ok, so because of the heat and humidity we are taking showers twice a day and it is amazing how fast you go through your clean clothes. We did not bring a lot of clothes but even a such we had two large loads. We decided to use the dryers to dry them since putting them on the line with the sunshine seems good but the high humidity would likely ensure still be damp be evening. As it was it took 40 minutes in the dryer for things to dry.
After we finished the chores we both were sweating big time and the thought of taking a ‘hike’ anywhere was not an option. So we decided to go for a drive into Airlie Beach town and see if we could find some souvenirs and look at the lagoon. It was nice to walk into air conditioned stores but alas that did not last long.
So we decided it would be good to go look at the waterfalls outside of town and thinking that with all the rain they would be really impressive. Again just before we got to the falls we came across the road that was flooded – so back to town we drove. Then we thought, lets go look at the Lions Lookout. We got to the place that Karen called the lookout, but it was a residential area with a splendid view. So other than the fact that we had been driving around in a air conditioning, our attempts to do some sightseeing failed.
Back at the campsite we had a late lunch and I decided to spend the afternoon by the pool where I could jump in to cool off when needed. I took my gook and spent the rest of the day doing just that. Wes decided to stay at the camper and read (I think he slept to be honest).
All in all this was a quiet and uneventful day. And it was nice to lay back and enjoy the pool and reading for me.
