Ok enough already. Day 4 in New Zealand and it is still raining. We are very patient people (at least I am LOL) but we are hoping to see the top of some of the hills soon and so far it is rain, mist, and misery. I am not complaining (much).
We have decided that it is time to continue heading south and head to Rotorua in hopes we can find things to do there even if it is raining. We thought about staying in Auckland but we looked through the brochures and could not find anything that interests us so we decided to head on to the areas on the south island that had activities. Wes has noted several things that we can do if the rain continues and it is forecasted to continue for another 3 days.
On our way through Auckland we stopped for a few minutes at the campervan depot to check on a few things. We were interested in getting the attachment for the RV power cords. Turns out it is available for an additional $50 charge but they cost not much more to buy. We did not pick one up since I am not sure if we would even use it.
We continued on the road without anything exciting to report. The rain has continued to come down non-stop and we are wondering if it will ever stop and if we will get rid of the dampness that has started to creep in.
We stopped for lunch on the way and got another ‘pie’ for lunch. We are both really enjoying the pies but I have to admit the ones yesterday were better. We are going to try to figure out how to find the best ones, usually home made ones or small shops. This is a new game for us.
We got to Rotorua and settled into the campground. We are starting to think about later this week about where we will be so we can book ahead because with Christmas places will be booked up. We are having a tough time deciding where we will be or when but this may be something we have to sort out.
After we settled in we decided it would be fun to go to the Polynesian Spa for a hot springs for bit of relaxation. (No these are not my pictures, it was raining so I did not take out the camera) Wes in particular was interested in seeing if the sulphur in the water would ease his discomfort with the mosquito bites. I think it did. After we sat and became prunes we returned to the camp to relax in the kitchen until dinner time. We are getting to meet the other campers and enjoying sharing stories. In particular we have met Nick from Australia and two girls from Israel.
